Irene R. Simons, age 100, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024. She was born on December 23, 1923, in Seymour to the late Anton and Victoria (Brzozowska) Dombrowicki. She graduated from Seymour High School, with honors. On August 28, 1948, she married George Frank Simons at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Seymour. They celebrated 66 years of marriage before George passed away on April 28, 2015. Irene was a member of the Brown County Homemakers Club and enjoyed being a homemaker. She liked cooking, baking and canning; she enjoyed arts and crafts like Norwegian Rosemaling and Ukrainian egg painting. For a while she worked for Prange’s making draperies and in the mailroom of the Press Gazette, placing the flyers in the Sunday paper. She loved her family dearly and will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her children; Ken (Patricia), Gene (Sue), Steve (Jody), Dan (Karen), Mary (Larry) Carpenter and Randy (Jill), grandchildren; Jessica (Paul) Pellitier, Keith (Jenny) Agamaite, Matt (Betsy), Katie (Tim) Wild, Dr. Keith, Emily, Paul (Kristin), Lisa (Jeremy) Jasicki, Leah (Zack Akin) Carpenter, Kevin (Adelina Ailarov) and Kelly (Dirk Betzer) Simons. Irene is further survived by her great grandchildren; Jax, Austin, Colton, Peighton, Calleigh, Adeline, Brielle, Bailey, Jordi, Halley, Trent, Quinn, Olivia and Dominic.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, George and her siblings; John Dombrowicki, Ed (Mabel) Dombrowicki, Helen Wichman, Sophie (Walter) Henry, Henry Dombrowicki, Bernice Dombrowicki and Lillian (Daniel) Rice.
Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S Michigan St., De Pere, on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 9:30am until 11:15am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:30am with the Rev. Josuva Arulanandu officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to thank the nurses with Moments Hospice, especially Katie Stephanie and Danielle for the wonderful care they gave to Irene.
