Helen Lemke, age 83, of Freedom, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Kaukauna to the late Martin and Evelyn (De Bruin) Van Schyndel on December 27, 1937. Helen worked as a Nursing Assistant, or CNA for many years at Parkside Nursing Home until her retirement in 1992. She really enjoyed going to the casinos and playing slot machines and Bingo with her partner in crime, her sister. Her greatest joy was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had many, but never missed a birthday! She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her children; Kenny (Char) Lemke, Laurie Grode, Lisa (Joe) Gilson, Randy (Karmen) Lemke, Bobbie Jo (Ron) Otto and Tracy (Mike) Geiger, her 29 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. Helen is further survived by her sisters; Mary Jane Bowers, Carol (Bill) Verhagen, Diane (Bob) Oudenhoven and Sharri (Dan) Nagan as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceding Helen in death are her parents, her sons; Orville Lemke Jr. and Mike (Jodi) Lemke, brother, Ron (Mary) Van Schyndel infant sister, Francis Van Schyndel, brother in law, Lloyd Bowers and nephews, Danny Oudenhoven and Lyle Bowers.Family and friends may visit St. Clare Parish-St. Paul Site, 437 Main St., Wrightstown on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Brian Wideman officiating. Interment in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. A special thank you to her children and grandchildren for all of the care given and time spent with grandma.
