Harold "Harry" Koenig

Harold “Harry” Koenig, age 86 of De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 surrounded by his loving wife and family at his home.

He was born on September 30, 1938, son of the late Eli and Evelyn (Jensen) Koenig. 

Harry grew up on the family farm in Denmark, WI. He spent his childhood playing with his brother Bob, and best friend Robert Kolarik. They enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing sports. Some of his favorite childhood memories were going to Packer games with his uncle Art and his brother Bob. 

He graduated from Denmark High School in 1956. Harry then served two years in the Army. After his service, he worked at Brillion Iron Works. In July of 1961, he met the love of his life, Christine. They married on December 30, 1961 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay, WI and enjoyed 63 years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Green Bay, WI where he took a job at Fort Howard Paper Mill until his retirement.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Harry will be deeply missed by his wife Christine; their five children Rene (fiancé Alan Case) VanCampenhout, David (Lisa Spielbauer) Koenig, Polly (Roger) Van Lanen, Joseph (Lisa) Koenig, Stephanie (Scot) Schoenwalder; their nine grandchildren Ryan (Cassi) VanCampenhout, Paul VanCampenhout, Kennedy (Lucca) Viana, Reese Koenig, Evan (Renee) Van Lanen, Josie (fiancé Drew Leatherberry) Jantz, Samantha (Justin) Haupt, Danielle (Harrison) Widdes and Grayce Schoenwalder; their eleven great grandchildren. 

Besides his parents, he was preceded by his brother Bob; sister-in-law Alice Koenig and his beloved uncle Art Jensen.

Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr., De Pere, WI (Ledgeview), from 9:30 am until 10:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am with Father Mike Ingold presiding. Entombment will be in the Allouez Mausoleum in Green Bay, WI.
