Gerald George Renier, born in Green Bay, WI on October 29, 1934, passed away February 2, 2023. He is the son of the late Doris Huybrecht Zimonick and George Renier. After graduating from Green Bay East High School, Jerry served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force and achieving the rank of Sergeant, Jerry was employed with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation. Ada and Jerry were married on September 24, 1957 at Turner Air Force Base Chapel in Albany, GA.
Jerry retired from Wisconsin Public Service Corporation with over 37 years of service in December of 1995. Jerry and his beloved wife Ada traveled throughout the United States with their motor home, spending winters in Florida, Alabama and Georgia visiting Ada’s family. Jerry enjoyed gardening, fishing, woodworking, and singing and playing guitar. Jerry and Ada were members of St. John Lutheran Church in De Pere since 1970. Jerry and Ada love boating, and Jerry even built his 19 foot boat. Jerry and Ada loved to dance, and they were members and officers of a dance club over 16 years. Jerry’s beloved Ada passed away on May 27, 2015.
Jerry was blessed to find love again and married Bette on June 2, 2016. Jerry and Bette were blessed to find love in their golden years. They enjoyed almost 7 years or marriage, including biking in Door County and on the Fox River Trail. Jerry was a devoted husband. They thanked God for every moment they were given.
Survivors include his wife Bette; Jerry’s three children: Todd (Melissa Bowen) Renier, Lisa (Greg) Hicks and Michelle Renier; step-children: Chris, Tim, Sally, Bryan and their spouses; grandchildren: Cassie and Alex Renier, Brittany (Ryan) Patton, Craig Hicks, Sarah (Dayne) Shuda, Rebecca Hicks; brother Tom (Jacquie Jaaskelainen) Renier; great-grandchildren: Norah Lou, Holly, Audrey, Adalyn, Allyson, Madison, and Grayson
He was preceded in death by his first wife Ada and his parent, George and Doris.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Saturday, February 11, from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am with Pastor Cindy Warmbier-Meyer officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2700 Vernon Drive, Suite 340, Green Bay, WI 54304.
