Ashwaubenon

Gerald “Jerry” Plog, age 95 of Ashwaubenon, passed away on December 7, 2024 at a local nursing home.

He was born on February 2, 1929, in Green Bay to the late William and Lillian Plog. He was a graduate of Nicolet High School and Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute.

On July 21, 1951, he married the love of his life, the former Alice Hein at St. Therese Catholic Church in Appleton, WI. They spent their years together raising five children while enjoying life to the fullest. Alice and Jerry spent many summers camping in Door County with their children, fishing, and connecting with the many campers they met and became friends with over the years.

Jerry served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. He was stationed at Camp Carson in Colorado Springs where he attained the rank of corporal prior to his honorable discharge.

He worked for many years at Milprint Inc as a machine operator and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He retired in 1994 after 45 years of employment. He enjoyed his job and all of his co-workers.

Jerry was also an accomplished carpenter. He built the family residence in 1959 within viewing distance of City Stadium (Lambeau Field) with the aid of his father. After retirement, Jerry spent most of his time doing the things that he enjoyed the most…hunting, fishing, bowling, and camping.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Alice, children Tom (Cindy) Plog, Nanci Plog, Cathy Plog, Sue (Joe) Coenen and Karen (Bill) Parsons. In addition, he is survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents William and Lillian, his brother Howard (Elaine) Plog, brother Clyde Plog, sister Vernal (James) Denis, sister Muriel (Eugene) Powell, sister Geraldine (Bill) Allison and granddaughter Holli Plog.

Per Jerry’s wishes, there will be no funeral. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care will be assisting the family.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors at St. Vincent’s Hospital, the caregivers at Green Bay Health Services and Unity Hospice for the care and comfort they provided to Jerry in his final days.
