Gerald E Novak (Jerry) of Denmark Wisconsin passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay, Wisconsin after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jerry was born on January 11, 1941 to Edward and Edna (Rezek) Novak in Manitowoc County. He graduated from Mishicot High School. He was united in marriage to Marcella Newman on September 16, 1961. They had two children, Michael Gerald Novak and Susan Marie Novak (Steeno).
Jerry served in the US Army Reserve from February 1962 until 1967; earning the rank of sergeant and took pride in training troops. In his military time he earned a expert M1 rifle medal. He was member of American Legion Post 363 in Denmark, WI. In 2021 he honored his military comrades by viewing the traveling War Memorial in Oshkosh with the help of Charlie Winnekens. Jerry was employed by Mirro Corporation in Manitowoc for 43 years.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Jerry had many interest in hunting, fishing and trapping; he also took pride in remodeling the family cottage on Boot Lake and enjoyed sitting on the front porch there watching the wildlife that came by. He enjoyed listening to classic country music and watching various programs on TV. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved special dog Josie. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Marcella; children, Michael (Linda) Novak of Greenleaf; Susan (James) Steeno of Little Chute; grandchildren, Alex (Heather) Novak, Denmark; April Clark, De Pere; Jacob & Kaylee Steeno, Little Chute; Traci Steeno, Denmark. Great grandchildren, Axle & Levi Novak and Greyson Clark. His godchildren are Cindy Krause and Charles Leiterman. He is survived by his brother Kenneth (Judith) Novak, St Germain, WI; brother in law, Joseph Newman; sister in law Mary (Frances) Pietsch.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ronald, Romy and Allan Novak; godson Scott Novak and sister in law Doris Newman.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Jerry will be held at All Saint Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. with mass to follow at 11:30 a.m. with full military rites at the cemetery.
