George F. Kobes, 91 of Denmark, passed away on June 8, 2021, at Aurora Bay Care from cancer. He was born on January 23, 1930, to Bart and Theresa (Blahnik) Kobes. He married the love of his life, Verna Jurczykowski, on July 28, 1951. They shared just shy of 70 wonderful years.
George worked at Lake to Lake for many years as a cheesemaker before taking over the family home farm in March of 1952.His greatest pride was his family and the farm. He was a dedicated Packer fan. He also loved playing cards- 500 Rummy and Sheephead. He also enjoyed visiting and talking with all his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his adoring wife, Verna, George is survived by his children: Dave (Linda) Kobes, Donna (Bill) Bierke, Debra Paul, and Diane (Keith) DuChateau; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Brent) Veeser, Katie (James) Zellner, Kevin Kobes, Sy (Barb) Jahnke, Jason (Melissa) Jahnke, Rebecca Damp, Frank Paul, Anna (Cory) Schneider, George (Amanda) Paul, Adam King, and Tyler King. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Joe (Alice) Kobes; in-laws: Norm (Shirley) Ostrenga, Eleanor Rozmarynoski, Mary Wiza, Eugene (Mary) Jurczykowski, Joyce (Roger) Andrastek, Judy Jurczykowski, and Dorothy Kobes; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
George is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn (Joe) King; granddaughter, Kelli King; siblings: Tom, Frank, John, Ann, Mary, Ed, and Jimmy; and in-laws: Tommy, Eddie, Toni, Adeline, Herb, and Delores.
Friends and family may visit on Friday, June 11, 2021, from 9 AM until 10:15 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle (Sugarbush), 5930 Humboldt Road, Luxemburg, WI 54217. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Pastor Reverend Carlo Villaluz (Fr. Lukee) officiating. Mask wearing and social distancing are highly encouraged.
