Frederick Edward Day, 83, died Sunday, November 20, 2022. He was born June 23, 1939, to the late Edward and Marjorie (Weslow) Day in Green Bay, Wisconsin. On June 18, 1984, Fred married Lois Wilson from Gladstone, Michigan. He retired from the railroad after over 30 years of employment. In his free time, Fred enjoyed playing cards, cheering on the Packers, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved telling a story or singing a song.
Survivors include his wife, Lois; eight children, Edward (Marsan) Day, Laura Winkelspecht, Patrick (Marlene) Day, John (Sharon) Day, Ron King, Cheryl (Clay) Ellis, Teri (Steve) Ewing, and John (Michelle) King; grandchildren, Nick, Jacob, David, Grace, Thomas, Katie, Emily, Becca, Michael, Nicole, Hannah, Eli, Danny, Britney, Jacob, Joseph, and Aaron; 12 great-grandchildren, and his sisters-in-law, Libby Day, Marilyn Kulas, and Shirley O’Mealy; and brother-in-law, Rick Wilson.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Mary Ellen Zellner, Tim Day, and Dan Wilson; two sons, Keric and Michael Day; his son-in-law, Rick Winkelspecht, his niece Amy Siehr and nephew Alex Zellner, and Judy Fournier, his first wife.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home (860 N Webster Ave, De Pere) on Friday, November 25, from 3:00pm-6:00pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Bernard Catholic Church (2040 Hillside Lane, Green Bay) from 10:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Mark Vander Steeg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to De Pere Christian Outreach or Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Bellin ICU, especially Annika, who took great care of Fred and treated us with so much kindness.
