Eva Schumerth

Eva Schumerth died peacefully on May 15, 2025. She was born on June 15, 1934 to Louis and Nancy Aerts. She was the last surviving member of her birth family. She was preceded in death by her brothers Marvin, Victor, Earl, Ruben, Adrian, and Ken and sisters Maxine, Grace Desotell and Nancy Seyler.

On April 28, 1956, Eva married James Schumerth. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children Cindy Luce, Peggy Velicer and Andrew (Sara) Schumerth. Her seven grandchildren include: Kit (Jenna) Lasee, Zackary (Iesha) Luce, Samuel (Brittany) Luce, Jenny (Luke) Weichelt, Nicholas (Julie) Schubach, Leah (Jake Hustad) Schumerth, and Dominic (Sophie) Schumerth. She has 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She has one surviving sister-in-law Shirley Aerts.

Eva led an active life and enjoyed walking and biking. She loved family and friends. She played cards, enjoyed socializing over lunch or dinner and took great joy in her grandchildren. She was a lifelong resident of De Pere, WI and a lifelong member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, often attending daily mass.

Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S Michigan St, De Pere, on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 9:30 am until 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Eva at 11:00 am with Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. Interment at Mt Olivet Cemetery. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
