Ervin “Erv” Hutjens, age 78, of De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2026, at his home.
He was born on March 1, 1947, in Green Bay, WI, son of the late Edward and Marie (Kocken) Hutjens. On October 18, 1969, he married Margaret Albers at St. Boniface Catholic Church in De Pere, WI.
Erv was a planner and buyer at Campbell Wrapper Corporation until the time of his retirement. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ledgeview and a director of the Buick Dairyland Chapter. Erv enjoyed spending summers at their cottage on Grindle Lake, classic cars, cribbage, woodworking, supporting the UWGB Women’s Basketball, spending time outdoors doing tree removal and helping on the Hutjens Maple Grove Dairy Farm.
Erv is survived by his wife Marge; five children Sarah (Steve) Harkey, Martin (Connie) Hutjens, Emily (Dan) Hooyman, Mary Jo (Jesus) Hutjens, and Meg (David) Lasee; six grandchildren Christopher and Sean Hooyman, Grace and Andrew Hutjens, Margaret and Madeleine Lasee; one step-grandson Shayne (Mailee) Harkey; two step-great-grandchildren Malachi and Braedan Harkey; two brothers Frank (Janice) Hutjens and Ron Hutjens; one sister Diana (Lon) Hutjens; one brother-in-law Mike (Mary Ann) Albers and one sister-in-law Mary Racine; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Josephine Hutjens; sister & brother-in-law Joan (Jerry) Beining; in-laws Edward and Margaret Albers; a brother & sister-in-law Bill (Joanne) Albers; and brother-in-law John Racine.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Dr, De Pere, WI 54115 from 8:30 am to 10:45 am with a mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am, with Fr. Mike Ingold presiding.
