Elton "Pete" Petersen, 93, De Pere passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023. Pete was born on January 24, 1930, to the late Herman (Sophia Peterson) Petersen in the town of Wrightstown.
Pete was a graduate of Wrightstown High School. He married his High School sweetheart Mary Ada Lamers on February 17, 1949. He enjoyed playing clarinet & saxophone in their family band called “Rhythm Notes" for many years. Pete was a member of the Wayside Morrison Concert Band, for 60 years, the De Pere City Band, and the Allouez Band. Pete was a member of the De Pere Area Men's Club & volunteer for the American Red Cross. In 2014, Pete received the Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Award at the WPS Awards. Pete had almost 21 years of service and he volunteered 5,670 hours & provided approximately 10,080 rides to clients over the age of 60 or disabled. Pete received the WI Heroes Award, which is given to a WI resident who demonstrates exceptional contributions to the community.
Pete is survived by his children, Ken (Sue) Duane (Mary) Mike (Shari) Dan (Shirley) Chris (Richard) Blair Dave (Rosalee) Paul (Jean) daughter-in-law Linda Petersen & fiancé Tim Vieth, his 23 grandchildren, & 37 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He is also served by his brother Carl Petersen, brothers and sisters-in-law Carol Gossen, Maurice & Dallas Lamers, Denis Lamers, Ione Gerrits, & Carol Lamers, nieces & nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his loving Wife, Mary Ada, an infant son, Girard, son Brian, grandson Cory, sisters Helen & Adeline Petersen, brothers -in-law & sisters-in-laws Jim & John Lamers, Bud Gerrits, Orville Gossen, & sister's -in-laws Judy Lamers & Connie Lamers.
Friends & family may call Thursday, Nov 2, 2023, at St Francis Xavier Church, 220 S Michigan St De Pere from 9:30 am until 11:30 am. A mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 in the church. Entombment will follow at Allouez Catholic Mausoleum.
The family would like to thank the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living, Rennes Rehabilitation Center, & Aurora Hospice for their loving care & concern.
