Elroy Arthur Johnson
Elroy Johnson passed away peacefully on October 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. He was born on July 15, 1938, in Brantwood, WI to the late Gustave and Julia Johnson. Elroy grew up on the Northwoods farm playing baseball on the local team. He then went on to be a first-generation college graduate from UW River Falls.
After graduation, he worked briefly for the FDA, then worked at the Larsen Company where he remained until retirement. His promotion to plant manager brought him to Brillion, where he enjoyed the best years of his life.
He married Joan Faust on December 5, 1981, and had his first son Peter in 1985. Lawrence was adopted in 1991 and always cherished being a loving husband and father. Those titles were his greatest honor.
Elroy was very proud of his Finnish Heritage and located distant family in 1974. He took five trips to Finland to see them and many of the relatives visited him in the United States. He also enjoyed traveling with the family and went to 42 states with them.
Elroy was also proud of his community service. He was a member of the Beaver Dam, Brillion, and De Pere Lions Clubs including President of the Brillion Club from 1990-1991. He was also Boy Scout Master of Troop 4 when his sons were in Boy Scouts.
In later years Elroy moved to De Pere in retirement where he enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and squirrels in his backyard. He also enjoyed helping Joan with the garden and outdoor plants, going on walks, and getting together with the Green Bay Newcomers Club.
Survivors include wife of 44 years Joan Johnson, sons Peter (Nicole) and Lawrence, sisters Karen Cooke and Carol (Bill) Johns, brothers in law Paul (Judy) Faust, Tom (Jan) Rach, Dennis (Jan) Rach, Mike (Becky) Rach, Ken (Mary) Rach, Kevin (Jean) Rach, Larry (Jean) Rach, and Richard Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents Gustave and Julia Johnson, brother Gerald Johnson, sisters Nancy Miller and Lois Wohler.
