Elmer P. Stenzel, age 83, of Wrightstown, passed away December 28, 2021. The son of the late Walter and Florence (King) Stenzel was born October 13, 1938 in Valders. He attended Valders High School and then served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On September 4, 1961 he married Carol Copiskey at St. Paul Catholic Church in Wrightstown, and she preceded him in death in 2009. He was an avid volunteer, especially with feeding the homeless. Elmer would drive to Amherst and buy a truck of potatoes, then delivered it to local food banks. He was a member of the Wrightstown and Oneida Lions Club and volunteered to distribute food from Rubys Pantry to other local food banks. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting, playing cards, spending time with family and attending the grandkids sporting events.
He is survived by: Keith (Lisa) Geiger, John (Nancy) Stenzel, Joe (Kathy) Stenzel, Missy Stenzel, Mike (Cathy) Stenzel; 13 grandchildren: Jason (Ruby) Geiger, Jeff (Stephanie) Geiger, Jim (Katie) Phelan, Tracy (Jason) Phelan, Sarah (Ryan) Vande Kolk, Emily Stenzel, Eli Stenzel, Kayla Robbins, AJ Robbins, Samuel Stenzel, Bella Stenzel, Josie Stenzel and Grace Stenzel; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers: Walter (Lorraine) Stenzel, Joyce (Dick) Lodel, Charles (Darlene) Stenzel, Bill (Laurie) Stenzel, Jim (Sue) Stenzel; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his wife Carol and parents, Walter and Florence, he was preceded in death by his siblings: David Stenzel, Edward (Elaine) Stenzel, Geraldine (Lloyd) Free, Darrell (Linda) Tetzlaff; Carol’s parents: Roy and Colette Copiskey.
Family and friends may visit at St. Clare Catholic Parish- St. Paul Site, Wrightstown, on Monday, January 3, from 1-3:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00pm with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Wrightstown. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
