Earl M. Nienhaus, age 94, of Greenleaf, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his home. The son of the late Leo and Mary (Petri) Nienhaus was born May 8, 1924 in Denmark. He married Leona “Cindy” Gosz on May 24, 1952 at St. Mary Church in Greenleaf. Earl served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and later worked as a machine shop inspector for Giddings & Lewis in Kaukauna for 35 years. He was a retired member of the Greenleaf Fire Department. In his retirement, Earl liked to travel on bus trips, he enjoyed gardening, and working in his garage.
Survivors include his wife, Leona “Cindy”; son Dennis (Barb) Nienhaus of De Pere; grandchildren: Angie (Matt) Wifler and their children Ben, Ellie, Amelia, as well as Robert (Jen Marks) Nienhaus and their soon to be born daughter Lydia Jane; sisters: Irene Tittel and Dolores Lemke; sisters-in-law: Clara Long and Martha Johnson and a brother-in-law Robert Gosz. He loved his grand-dog Heidi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Saturday, December 22, from 3pm until the time of service at 5pm with Deacon Ken Kabat officiating.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor cardiac staff at Bellin Hospital and the Brown County Police Officers for all of their care.
