Dorothy Janssen, age 94 of De Pere, passed away peacefully into the awaiting arms of her husband, daughter and granddaughter on Monday, March 25, 2024. She was born on July 13, 1929 in Brillion Wisconsin, to the late Earl and Viola (Fischer) Lavey. Dorothy attended Brillion schools until her family moved to De Pere in 1945. She graduated from De Pere High School, class of 1947. On June 17, 1948, she married Daniel A. Janssen at St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere. Dorothy worked for Wisconsin Telephone Company as a switchboard operator until it went dial in 1955. Her true passion was caring for her family. She was a wonderful homemaker, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to cook, bake, sew, crochet and quilt. She was especially proud of her many years as a member and contributor of the St Mary’s Women’s Quilting Club. Dorothy showed her love for her family in many ways, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her children; Daniel R. Janssen, Nancy (Mark) Shillcox and Steve (Kathy) Janssen, grandchildren; Brook (Josh) Schroeder, Mike (Alicia) Shillcox, Janelle (Nick) Klubertanz, Brett (Rebecca) Janssen and Hayley (Tyler) Swenson. Dorothy is further survived by her 8 great grandchildren; Emily, Madilyn, Ella, Rylee, Addison, Austin, Aiyla and Judah as well as her brother in law, Carl Christiansen.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Dan, oldest daughter Patricia, granddaughter Katie Shillcox and her sisters, Donna (Ken) Janssen and Audrey Christiansen.
The family would like to thank AseraCare Hospice for their outstanding care, compassion and thoughtfulness during these last months.
Family and friends may gather on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 10:00am until 10:45am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S Michigan Street, De Pere with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am, Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. A private burial will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at www.cotterfuneralhome.com
