On Sunday, October 8, 1933, George and Marcella Haen welcomed their second daughter, Dorothy Teresa, into their home. On October 18, 2021, they welcomed her again into her heavenly home. Dorothy grew up in Greenleaf, Wisconsin, attending St. Mary Parochial School and East De Pere High School. As a young lady she worked at St. Vincent Hospital. In 1955 she met Vernon Christopherson at 4H camp. Despite her attempts to pair him with her friend, his eyes were only for her. On June 23, 1956 they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenleaf. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They raised a family of four “perfect” children. Vernon and Dorothy moved their family several times before settling in Green Bay in 1977.
Dorothy will be lovingly missed by Vernon and their family, Paul and Mollie Christopherson; their children Lauren and Greg Ritter, Luke Christopherson, Erin Christopherson and Kyle Fritz, Katie Christopherson and Patrick Christopherson, Janice and Douglas Phillips; their children Jordan Phillips and Carley Phillips, Ann and Michael Dabeck; their children Jameson Dabeck his fiancée, Micayla Darrow and Robenson Dabeck, Bryan and Tammy Christopherson; their children Ashley and Wes Strey and Dustin Christopherson. A third generation of seven and a half “Littles” round out this large loving family, Chase Christopherson, Graham and Amelia Ritter, Kaden, Lennon and Willow (due in March) Fritz, Edwin and Elliott Strey.
Dorothy is further survived by her siblings Mary Agnes Scheuer, Elizabeth Pinkert, Rose Marie Hibbard, and George and Karen Haen. Vernon’s siblings Marvin and Monie Christopherson, Kevin and Sandra Christopherson, Wayne Christopherson, Alan and Verla Christopherson, Dean Christopher, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her parents, George and Marcella Haen and Vernon’s parents, August and Isabel Christopherson, Dorothy will be welcomed into Heaven by her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Dale Christopher, sisters-in-law, Ila Mae Martin and Clarice Christopherson and brothers-in-law Frank Scheuer, John Pinkert, Robert Hibbard and Richard Martin.
Family and friends may visit at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 130 St. Matthews St., Green Bay on Saturday, October 23, 9:00 a.m. to noon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon with Father Paul Demuth officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when COVID restrictions permit. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to thank the staff at Unity Hospice for their compassionate assistance.Vernon would like everyone to know how much Dorothy enjoyed and loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and special group of friends.
