Donald R Smith

Donald R. Smith, age 89 of Allouez, was reunited with his loving wife Bernice and welcomed into heaven on Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1935, to the late Claude and Viola (Vandenberg) Smith in Green Bay. He graduated from Green Bay East High School in June of 1955 and three months later, on September 17, 1955, he married his best friend and middle school sweetheart, Bernice Kolb. Together they raised three children and dedicated their time to travel, camping, sailing, riding his motorcycle, church, volunteering in the community and gardening. He especially loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and grand dogs. Don worked as a machinist for Paper Converting for over 30 years. He led many bible studies including prison fellowship at the reformatory and was very involved in his church, Faith Lutheran. He loved the Lord with all his heart.

He is survived by children; Scott (Joann) Smith, Kevin (Cyndee Sweetland) Smith and Julie Stedl, grandchildren; Kristy (Dillon) Maney, Brian Smith, Carrie (Ross) Peters, Jared (Cara) Stedl and Shantel Stedl as well as great grandchildren; Olivia Stedl, Isabella Stedl, Braydon Maney, Chandler Maney and Emma Peters. Don is further survived by his sister, Claudette Renard as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents, son in law, Roger Stedl, his brother, Jim (Neva) Smith and his sister, Shirley Basten.

Family and friends may visit at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 S. Webster Ave. Allouez, on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am with the Rev. Joshua Errer officiating.

The family would like to thank the loving staff at Alpha Senior Concepts on Lineville, Allison and his care team at Sequoia and Moments Hospice. Also, a special thank you to Pastor Joshua Errer and the Faith Lutheran Church family for all of the compassion and care given, especially these last few years.
