Donald Denis LeMere, TSGT, U.S. Air Force (Retired)

August 13, 1940 – September 30, 2026

Donald “Don” LeMere, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Tender Hearts Assisted Living in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Grover and Nora (Binon) LeMere.

Don attended and graduated from Our Lady of Premontre High School. He grew up in the Green Bay area, where he worked on local farms and was affectionately known for his mischievous nature and a great sense of humor. One of his favorite stories to tell was about walking in a warm cow patty first thing in the morning, a story that never failed to make him laugh. That playful spirit and sense of humor remained with Don throughout his life, bringing laughter to those around him, including during his final days spent with his sons. Shortly after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Don proudly served his country for 20 years, during which he was stationed at Dover AFB, Ramey AFB, Charleston AFB, Anderson AFB, and Davis-Monthan AFB, where he retired as a Technical Sergeant. He also completed temporary duty assignments (TDYs) at several locations overseas. Among his accomplishments and awards, Don received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal twice.

In 1963, Don married the love of his life, Judith “Judy” Elizabeth LeMere (Ziefle). They remained devoted to one another until Judy’s passing on October 7, 2022.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, Don and Judy returned to Wisconsin, where they built a beautiful log home with the help of family.

Don enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, working on cars, electrical work, plumbing, and yard work — even though he always complained about how fast the grass was growing. He was also known for helping anyone who needed a hand and for sharing stories with anyone who would listen.

Don is survived by his sons, Troy (Sandy) LeMere of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Tracy (GG) LeMere of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren, Brenden LeMere (Lauren), Taylor Pickering (Tim), Sophie LeMere, Jackson LeMere, Ying Hua Zeller, Zheng Fang Zeller, Mollie Goudy, and Brody Goudy; great-grandchildren, Beatrice and Gideon; sisters, Ginger Schaut and Betty Peacock; sisters-in-law, Joanne Zipperer and Janice Yagodzinski; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy; daughter, Cassandra Ann LeMere-Zeller; brothers-in-law, Jerry Ziefle, Jim Zipperer, Vic Peacock, and Al Schaut; and nephew, Mike Navarre.

A celebration of Don’s life, including military honors, will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Midwest Dachshund Rescue at mwdr.org.

The family would like to thank Tender Hearts Assisted Living and, especially, St. Croix Hospice for the compassion and care they provided to Don and his family during this very difficult time.
