Donald J (Don) Leiterman, 85, of Denmark passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday July 15, 2024. Don was born October 4, 1938 to the late Louis & Ella (Hoffman) Leiterman. On November 28, 1957 he married the love of his life, Dorothy Jorgensen and together they shared 65 years of marriage. Don worked at Brillion Iron Works from 1956 until his retirement in 2001. Don also worked at All Saints Catholic School in Denmark in maintenance. He kept the outside of the building immaculate. Together, they raised 2 daughters.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa. He loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to when the kids would stop to visit. He loved maintaining his yard, working in his garden, playing cards, feeding the birds and visiting with his neighbors. In his earlier years he loved to dance and follow the polka bands.
Don is survived by his daughters Lori Wotruba of Maribel & Lisa (Jim) Chapman of Green Bay. His grandchildren: Justin (Brenda) Loritz, Brittney (Kyle) VandeHey and Colin Chapman. Great grandchildren, Madelyn, Blake & Cora Loritz. He is further survived by his sister, Dorothy Derricks of Eaton, his in laws, Yvonne Jorgensen of Denmark and Rodney (Carolyn) Kowalczyk of Green Bay, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his son-in-law Joseph Wotruba, his parents, Louis and Ella Leiterman, his brother, Alvin (Virginia) Leiterman, his sisters, Lorraine (Frank) Sekora, Josephine (Willard) Bielinski and brother-in-law, Gayle Derricks, his inlaws, Merlin & Gladys Jorgensen, sister in laws, Janice (Robert) Beimborn and Beverly Kowalczyk, his his brother-in-law, Merlin Jorgensen, Jr., his niece, Mary Ellen Krueger and nephew, Michael Bielinski.
Friends may call on Monday July 22, 2024 at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St Claude Street in Denmark. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Cotter Funeral & Cremation Care is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank the ladies at Scandinavian Court Assisted Living in Denmark for the 18 months of care they gave to him. They not only were his care takers, they were his friends. Also thank you to Unity Hospice for their care. A huge thank you to all of his family & friends that stopped by to visit (especially Dale Schlies). He truly enjoyed everyone who stopped by and gave him all the Denmark gossip. Thank you all for everything that you have done for our dad. We love you all.
