Darlene Mann

December 5, 1930 — September 28, 2025

Darlene M. Mann, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away on September 28, 2025, at the age of 94. Dar was born on December 5, 1930 to Fred and Lenora (Vanden Boomen) Gilson and graduated from Nicolet High School in 1948.

On July 14, 1956, she married Kenneth Kolb, who sadly passed away on August 13, 1968. Dar later found love again with J.J. Mann, whom she married on June 19, 1970, and who preceded her in death on September 9, 2009.

Dar was a secretary at Red Owl Stores for several years before fully committing herself to raising her three beloved sons: Jeff, Tim and Mike Kolb. Beyond her professional life, Dar was deeply involved in her community and the lives of her children. She was a wonderful Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a Religious Education Teacher at St. Mary in De Pere.

Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she loved spending time with them, making memories that they’ll carry with them forever. Dar was an avid camper, often found at Maple View Campground in Norman, and a devoted Green Bay Packers fan, holding season tickets even before Lambeau Field was built. Her interests also included golf, bowling, playing bridge, and book clubs. Dar was a member of the Red Hatters and enjoyed breakfast club meetings with her close friends. She had a love for hosting family holiday gatherings and was most happy surrounded by her family.

Surviving Dar are her sons: Jeff Kolb, Tim (Bonnie) Kolb and Mike Kolb; grandchildren: Alyssa Kolb, Andrew (Meghan) Kolb, Amanda (Blake) Johnson, Jason (Jess) Kolb, Kyle (fiancé Naomi) Kolb and Kent (Kris Neyrinck) Kolb; great-grandchildren: Connor, Chad, Irma, Liam, Charlotte, Brycen and Olivia; as well as a sister-in-law Jean Gilson and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth and J.J.; daughter-in-law Cindy Kolb; siblings: Ralph (Joan) Gilson, Pete Gilson and Al (Roberta “Pepsi”) Gilson.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Saturday, October 4, from noon until the time of service at 2:00pm with Rev. Mike Ingold officiating. Burial will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Our family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Eden Vista and St. Croix hospice.
