Daniel Joseph Diny

Daniel Joseph Diny of Pembine and Greenleaf, WI, passed away April 14, 2022, at the age of 65. Born November 18, 1956, to Leo and Germaine (Cornelissen) Diny, Dan was always skilled working with his hands and, though he later claimed he wasn’t a mechanic, he grew up around automobiles thanks to his time working with his father at Diny’s Super Service in Greenleaf, which he continued following his graduation from Abbot Pennings High School in 1975. Dan transitioned from working with cars to working with wood when he joined John Brice Cabinets, honing his skills to the point that he crafted custom cabinets and trim-work for his own home from start to finish.

He married Gwen, his best friend, on January 19, 1987, and was blessed with two children, Adam (Colleen) and Deanna, whom he loved deeply and dearly. Dan also absolutely adored each of his grandsons, Leo and Otto.

Dan is further survived by his mother; brother, James Diny; sisters Marlene (Gary) Leick, Nancy Diny, Patty (Bob) Davis, Lani (Roy) Biese, Gale (Rob) Harteau, and Jodie (Dan) Renon; spunky dog and companion, Maggie; and several friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his wife; father; and parents-in-law, Roy and Esther Cropsey.

Dan found joy being outdoors in nature and always ensured the birds had plenty to eat at his bird feeder pole. He will be remembered for his willingness to always help a neighbor or a friend, and by his own children for his eagerness to help with projects, especially when the projects were wildly ambitious.

A celebration of Dan’s life will be held at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Friday, April 29, 2022, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. until 7:45pm followed by a prayer service at 8 p.m.
