Charles Alfred King

Charles "Charlie" King, age 96, of Green Bay, passed away on November 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.


He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.


He is survived by his children, Mary, Lisa (John) Maloney, Charlie (Lina) King, Michael King, Tom (Donna) King and John King; nine grandchildren and eight great-grand children. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Charlie was born on November 10, 1927 in Concord, New Hampshire to the late Edward King and Mary (Murphy) King.


Charlie attended St. John’s High School in Concord, New Hampshire.


He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and went on to obtain his Masters of Business Administration at Michigan State University.


On August 25, 1951 Charlie married Marland "Monnie" Mack at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay and they are now reunited in Heaven as Monnie passed away on April 27, 2018.


Charlie and family (five children) moved to Plymouth, England in 1962, where their sixth child, John was born. Charlie was responsible for setting up the European subsidiary of the Green Bay based Paper Converting Machine Company, PCMC and served as the Managing Director of the Plymouth operation for 18 years.


He and Monnie embraced the British culture and customs, making many longtime friends in Plymouth, Devon. The family returned to the United States in 1980. Charlie took on the role of Vice President of Sales at PCMC until his retirement in 1989.


Charlie served on the Advisory Council at St. Mary’s Hospital, was on the Board of Directors of PCMC and the Board of Directors, Junior Achievement, Green Bay Area.


Charlie was active in the community as a member of the De Pere Optimist Club and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed a great deal, the camaraderie, fellowship and the importance of genuine charity to the community.


Charlie loved to play golf with Monnie, family and friends; and watching the Packers, Notre Dame football and English soccer games.


Charlie’s unconditional love for his entire family will be missed immensely.


Family and friends may visit at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan Street, De Pere, on Saturday, April 27, from 10:00am until the time of mass at 11:00am with Rev. Josuva Arulanandu officiating. Private burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Marinette. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
