Carol Elizabeth Greivell, 94, passed away Sunday evening, August 17, 2025 at the Courtyard at Bellevue, from complications of Ahlzheimer’s. She was born in Green Bay on March 29, 1931 to the late August and Alice (nee Flaherty) Jahn, the second of three daughters.
On December 27, 1952, she married Daniel J. Greivell at Annunciation Catholic Church in Green Bay. Daniel preceded her in death on September 23, 1958. Carol graduated from Green Bay West High in 1948, and from Milwaukee State Teacher’s College in 1952. As a young widow and single mother of 3, Carol went to work as an elementary teacher for the School District of Elmbrook. She was employed there from 1959 to 1991, and was very proud of her time as a respected and loved educator.
Upon retirement, Carol enjoyed traveling with friends and family, and was a volunteer docent at the Milwaukee Public Museum and Schlitz Audubon Nature Center for many years. After living in Milwaukee for 50 years, she moved back to Green Bay to be closer to family. During that time she was an active member of Resurrection Parish, and volunteered at St. Vincent Hospital.
Carol is survived by her children, Thomas (Debra) Greivell of Green Bay, Daniel Greivell, Jr. of Egg Harbor, one sister, Judi Moss, of Ruckersville, Virginia, and son-in-law, Craig Stroinski of Edina, Minnesota. 7 grandchildren: Ted (Amanda) Greivell of DePere, Meg Greivell of South Shields, England, Samantha (Daniel Lin) Greivell of Lakewood, Colorado, Alex Greivell of Edwards, Colorado, Laura (Heather Butt) Benjamin of Eau Claire, Julie Stroinski of Bend, Oregon, and Brian (Sarah) Stroinski of Cleveland, Ohio. She is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Adrien Brecka Benjamin, Emaline Carrier-Benjamin, Gemma and Ruby Greivell, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, daughter, Gail Stroinski, sister, Dona Mae Jahn, her parents, and 3 brothers-in-law; David Moss, Robert (Lorraine) Greivell, and Richard (Juliette) Greivell.
Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Thursday, August 28, from 3:00pm until the time of prayer service at 4:30pm. Burial will be private in Ft. Howard Cemetery, Green Bay. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
