Brodie J. Young

Brodie Young Jr.,57, (Spirit name) Bamooka’am Gigiis; Sunrise , died suddenly on Monday, September 7, 2026, while battling Chronic Kidney Disease, and other chronic health conditions, at Kindred Hospital Chicago. He was the cherished son of the late Roberta (Webster) and Brodie Young Sr. Brodie Jr. was an enrolled Tribal member of the Oneida Nation and Menominee Tribal descendant.

From the time he was born, mother and son shared a special bond. Brodie was often called out to by his mother as “My one and only son”. He also earned the nicknames Hoss and Man.

In his early life, Brodie was a curious adventurous child. He enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors, learning about nature, insects, and wildlife.

Brodie was a natural-born leader. Many may have not known, but Brodie was a former Boy Scout, and a talented B-boy dancer in his younger years. He found joy in the great outdoors and had a deep appreciation for animals and exploring. He stayed curious! His protective nature and devotion to his family and friends left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

In his adult life he spent time studying in Law libraries to help himself and others through legal issues. He loved to dress up, knew a lot about men's fashion and read many issues of GQ magazine. He also followed car trends and loved to drive!

Later in life Brodie became very interested in health and healthcare. While living through his own health struggles, he decided to volunteer with the prison hospice program and received a certificate as a caregiver. He had many general education and AA certificates.

He was very proud of his progress in life, and he overcame many obstacles. He faced many challenges, and often-times he had to face them alone.

Hoss was a very proud person, and he was also very proud of his native culture, his sobriety, and his ability to help others. He had charm- and enjoyed trying to find ways to share his wisdom and guidance with the youngsters. At times, Hoss had a child-like energy. He was bright, and always hopeful for the future. He had many dreams, and he looked forward to, one day, enjoying his freedom.

Brodie is Survived by his father Brodie Young Sr., his daughter Britteny Ann Hart and Grandson Danzel Hart Garris, his sisters Jacquelyn (Davis, Irene (Jose) Madrigal, Lois (Barry) Velaszquez, Raven (Frank) Villa, Special Auntie Lois Franklin, and soulmate Trish Baldovino.

Brodie Jr. was preceded in death by his Mother Roberta (Dot) Young, his maternal grandparents Irene (Pierce) and Washington Felix Webster; his paternal Grandparents Ora (Sutton) and Leonard Young; and his beloved brother Steven Gains; His uncles, Clarence Webster, Eli Webster, Eugene Webster, Lou Webster, and Louis Webster; his aunts Bertha Webster, Eleanor Barnes, and Regina Webster; cherished cousin Anthony Jerome Franklin, and his niece Sophia Rose Villa.

A gathering of family and friends will be at Cotter Funeral Home (860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere, WI 54115) starting at 10:00am, on Friday September 18, 2026, followed by a Traditional Native American service, starting between noon and 1:00pm. There will be a private family burial.
