Denmark

Bonnie Jean Larsen, 70, of New Denmark, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on the family farm early in the morning of July 23, 2026. To know Bonnie was to know and experience true goodness and pure love. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling, and friend and will be deeply missed.

Bonnie was born in Algoma on July 6, 1956, a daughter to the late Lawrence and Marie (Vandervest) Rahn. Bonnie attended Zion Lutheran School and then Reedsville High School, graduating in 1974. After marriage, having kids, and working for some time, she returned to school and received a Diploma from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 1997.

Bonnie met the love of her life, “that Larsen boy” in 1973. Eddie became her whole world and she was married to him in April 1976, ultimately being blessed with over 51 years of love with her best friend and life partner. Her family was complete after giving birth to her son Michael in 1979 and her daughter Laurie in 1982.

Bonnie worked first as a receptionist at the West Side Clinic, then Radant’s Dime Store, followed by Bargain Outlet, Don Smith Sales, Employment Specialists, Duplicating Systems, Bodart Electric, babysitting, and helping with crop farming, landscaping, and caretaking of the family farm while continuously working until present at her favorite job, Smith Country Sales.

Apart from her formal working career, Bonnie enjoyed teaching Sunday school, helped with her husband’s Band, and cared for her mother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, daughter and son-in- law, as well as other family members as they battled medical issues. If Bonnie knew someone needed something; she was there. In May of 2017, Bonnie showed us all and the world one of the most powerful acts of love imaginable by donating her kidney to her husband and allowing them to have an additional near-decade together. Although surprising to be a match for him; it was also fitting as they have and always will be a part of each other. Bonnie was uncomfortable with praise and accolades, however it is well known that she was a silent hero in this world and taught us all to treat others as you’d wish to be treated.

Bonnie loved solving Suduko and jigsaw puzzles, reading, creating artistic decorations for birthday and Christmas presents, flower arranging for special events, canning fruits and jams from the orchard, tending to her raspberries, birdwatching, spending time with family, caring for family pets, and finding clever and personalized ways to make everyone feel special and loved. Additionally, she loved to participate in rummage sales and loved the years she was able to host the multifamily sale.

Bonnie was well known in both her personal and working life for her attention to detail, organization, thoughtfulness, and creativity in everything she touched.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Marie (Vandervest) Rahn and her brother Larry Rahn, her mother-in-law Edna (Lorrigan) Larsen, father-in-law Ernest Larsen, sister-in-law Christine (Anderson) Larsen, brother-in-law Glen Larsen, and nephew Doug Larsen.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Edward Larsen, her children Michael (Erin) Larsen and Laurie (Martin) Otto, grandchildren Riley (Leah Dombrock) and Ava Otto, siblings Harlan (Janice) Konkel and Nancy (Tom) Herlache, brothers-in-law Bob (Bonnie) Larsen and Bernie (Marsha) Larsen and many nieces and nephews.
