Bernice Trinkner, age 93, De Pere, passed away December 30, 2022 with family at her side. The daughter of the late Albert and Eva Van Den Heuvel was born March 17, 1929, in Oneida. Bernice married Gordon Trinkner, Aug. 24, 1949, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Oneida. Bernice was the head cook at East De Pere High School for 13 years. She also was the head cook at Camp Bird at Twin Bridge. Bernice was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere, where she was a coordinator for the rosary at daily morning Mass. She also worked at the church picnic and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at the De Pere Christian Outreach and Meals on Wheels. She had a soft spot in her heart for her dog, Keiko and cat, Junie.
Survivors include her children: Wayne (Debbie) Trinkner, Gary (Patty) Trinkner, Judy (Sylvester) Mooren, Gerard (Diane) Trinkner, Patti (Bob) Smith, Lynne (Steve) Smet, Mike (Sharon) Trinkner, Debbie (Tom) Ambrosius; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; Gordon’s family: Mary Quade, Ken (Marlyn) Trinkner; Dottie Trinkner, Ellie Zirbel.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gordon; special brother, Irvin (Johanna) Van Den Heuvel; brother, Raymond Van Den Heuvel; sister, Marlene (Albert) Kocken; sister: Ethel (Joe) Mooren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Mae and brother-in-law Dick Trinkner.
Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Thursday, January 5, from 3:00pm until 6:30pm with a prayer service at 5:00pm. Visitation will continue on Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, from 9:30am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. Mike Ingold officiating. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Oneida.
