Barry Jon Kaliebe, a dedicated diesel mechanic with over 50 years of experience, passed away peacefully in his home on September 9th, 2025, at the age of 71.
Barry was born on February 17, 1954, to hardworking parents who instilled in him a strong work ethic. From a young age, he had a fascination with how things worked. A curiosity that led him to a successful and dedicated career as a diesel mechanic. He expertly worked on semis with the occasional car/truck/motorcycle project slipped in from time to time. After working at a gas station in Shawano, he moved to Green Bay to pursue his trade. His talents earned him respect in his field, including a life change, moving to Texas to be the dedicated mechanic for a trucking company. He then returned to Green Bay and worked for Peterbilt. Years into his work, he decided to take a step outside the mechanic life and drive a truck across the country, mostly between the Midwest and the West Coast. Eventually, he started his own business, BK's Repair. Throughout his years in the business, colleagues and clients relied on his vast knowledge and experience. He took great pride in his work, often fixing others' vehicles simply by offering a friendly phone call for a DIY moment. Occasionally, he would even express his creative side, dabbling in auto paint and customization for himself or friends.
Outside of his shop/garage life, he enjoyed fishing. Often going out by himself on one of many different boats he owned throughout the years to get away from the daily grind and tip back a couple while relaxing in the peaceful serenity. Other ways he found freedom were to take a ride on his Harley for some occasional wind therapy or a nice drive through the countryside in his classic Mustang. He also loved to attend a local car show, swap meet, or tractor pull.
Barry will always be remembered for his unique sense of humor, his willingness always to help others, and his great storytelling. Many will remember him for just being a phone call or a stop at the shop away. People would often find themselves in his presence for far longer than expected, enjoying the time listening to the go-to master mechanic.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alton, mother Delores, sister Barbara, brother Benjamin (BJ), step-son Aaron, and many other loved ones. Those include his beloved dog, Dammit.
He is survived by his son, Allen Kaliebe (Christy), grandsons Benjamin and Dominic, step-daughter Jeannie Neu (Greg), other close family, and many friends that he also considered family.
