It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arvin Prebelski on January 28, 2025. Born in Milwaukee to Hazel Draws Prebelski and Albert Prebelski, Arvin graduated from Bay View High School before earning his degree in Business Administration from Marquette University. During his high school and college years, he and his brother had a dance band, where Arvin played the saxophone.
On June 14, 1958, he married Mary Lou Vizina, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Baraga, Michigan. Together, they built a loving home and raised three wonderful children.
Arvin started his career in the training department with the JC Penney Company in Racine, Wisconsin. His journey took him across several states, including Cincinnati, Ohio, Richmond, Virginia, and New Brunswick, New Jersey, as he climbed the ranks in regional accounting with JC Penney. In 1970, Arvin and Mary moved back to the Midwest, eventually calling De Pere home with their young family.
Over the years, Arvin worked as a field auditor for Allis Chalmers before transitioning back into retail accounting and internal audit with Badger Paint Company and Coast to Coast Hardware. He then started the internal audit department for HC Prange Department Stores, becoming the internal audit manager. His career concluded with the Oneida Tribe of Wisconsin, where he served as a Fraud Examiner and Director of Internal Audit, becoming well-respected within the Indian gaming community and collaborating with the National Indian Gaming Commission.
A lover of the great outdoors, Arvin enjoyed hunting and fishing, relishing walks in the woods during the spring and fall at the family cabin in Upper Michigan. Although a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Marquette Basketball, nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren compete in any sport or competition.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Mary; daughter Judy Zanon and her children Alia Klaus (John), Alex, Anna and Andrew; son Jerry (Peggy) and children Kate, Nick (Kaylee) and Emma Trigueros (Cristian); daughter Joanne Prindle (Jeff) and children Joseph (Maddie), Jonathan (Aubrey) and Jessica. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
Arvin was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ledgeview, where a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Unity Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Arvin’s name. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family with arrangements.
Our family would like to offer a special thank you to Unity Hospice and the nurses of the St. Vincent Hospital ICU for Arvin's care.
