On Thursday, July 21, 2022, Alice Josephine (Wendel) Zeller was granted her final wish as she passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fond du Lac, WI, on February 13, 1927, to Charles and Adela (Franzen) Wendel, she grew up on the family farm until moving to New Holstein, WI. After high school she moved to Wausau to attend nursing school. A nursing job brought her to Green Bay where she met Alfred Zeller Jr. on her way to the neighborhood bus stop. They married on May 30, 1949, and enjoyed 73 years of family life in Green Bay. Together they built their vacation home in Door County where they made many special memories.
While she was dedicated to motherhood she shared her special talent for sewing with many people especially young brides in her Heritage Gowns business. Throughout her life her group of dear friends enjoyed ski trips to Brule, Door County get aways and many volunteer activities.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Al; children, Colleen (Mark) Boland, Thomas (Mary) Zeller, Claudia (friend, Joe Brown) Elsner, Paul (Mary) Zeller; son-in-law Dean Freeberg; grandchildren, Timothy (Michelle) Boland, Emily (Lakshmi) Boland, Erin Freeberg, Erik (Kacie) Freeberg, Lauren (Daniel) Matzkin, Jennifer (Joseph) Miller, Connor (fiancé, Brianna) Elsner, Anna Elsner, Andrew Zeller, Michael (Alyssa) Zeller, and Katie Zeller; great-grandchildren, Parker, Hudson, Jace, Ellis, Wyatt, Madeleine, Abby, James, Mackenzie, and Charlotte; brother, David (Cindy) Wendel; sister-in-law, Joanne (Joe) Roth; many loving nieces and nephews. Alice is preceded in death by her children; Charmaine Freeberg and Mark Zeller; daughter-in-law Maribeth Zeller and son-in-law, Doug Elsner; sisters, Doris (Louie) Presto, Charlotte (Jack) Shaver, and Shirley (Bill) Pickren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Odd Fellows Rebekah Home and Heartland Hospice for the tender loving care they provided.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 28, for a visitation from 5:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Resurrection Catholic church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI, 54301, where Alice and Al have been members since 1966.
