Alan J. (Al) Malewiski, age 74, of Denmark, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021. The son of the late Leo and Betty (Bielinski) Malewiski was born March 14, 1947 in Green Bay. He graduated in 1965 from Denmark High School and was drafted into the US Army in August of 1966. After basic training in Missouri, he deployed to Vietnam in 1967 with the 87th Combat Engineers and 199th Light Infantry Brigade. He married Nancy Kiley on October 9, 1971 and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Al worked for 40 ½ years at Green Bay Packaging before retiring early due to disabilities.
Al was extremely proud of his military service and was a life member of the Denmark VFW Post 6705 (since 1978), serving as commander for 20 years. He was also a Gold Legacy Life Member of the VFW since 2012, All-State Post Commander, National Aide-de-Camp, Brown County Council Commander, Commander of the VFW 8th District. Al was also a member of the Denmark American Legion Post 363 and president of the War Memorial Park Board. He also served as the groundskeeper for Holy Trinity-Pine Grove Church for 29 years and at St. Mary Church in Glenmore for 12 years. He was an avid Green Bay Packer, Milwaukee Bucks and Wisconsin Badger fan.
Al will be missed and is survived by his wife, Nancy; children: Patrick (Jim) Malewiski, Lisa Malewiski, Michael (Lori) Malewiski and Joseph (Charlie) Malewiski; grandchildren: Brandon, Julia and Annaliese Revall; godchildren: Thomas Kiley and James Akers; siblings: Gerald (Diane) Malewiski, John (Lynn) Malewiski, Julie (Mark) Lane; Nancy’s siblings: John (Debra) Kiley, Glen (Donna) Kiley, Wayne (Denise) Kiley, Francis (Judy) Kiley, Allen (Shirley) Kiley, Gary (Lisa) Kiley, Paul Kiley, Joseph (Connie) Kiley; sister-in-law Peggy (Russ) Rezba; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James; Nancy’s parents: Thomas and Marian Kiley; brother-in-law Myron Kiley.
Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude Street, Denmark, on Thursday, December 16, from 9:30am until 11:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Fr. Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Pine Grove with full military honors. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be gathered by the family and donated towards organizations that were important to Al.
The family would like to thank the staff of Bellin Health Clinic in Denmark, County Rescue, the staff of Bellin Health Hospital and the staff of Unity Hospice.
