Alan (Al) Devroy, 78 passed away on June 21, 2021, holding my wife’s hand. I was the 3rd child born to Clarence (Cy) and Florence (Gerrits) Devroy on Jan 15, 1943.
I graduated from De Pere High School in 1961 and went to work at Osen Milling with my father. On October 2nd, 1965 I married Rita VanDenHeuvel at St Mary Catholic Church. Starting in November 1965 and for the next 33 years I worked in shipping at Fort Howard Paper Co.
Earlier in life, I enjoyed being an usher at St Mary’s and helping at Bear Paw camp with my sons along with being their Webelos leader. But most important were my many summers at Devils River Campground with my family, and making car mailboxes for my sons. I enjoyed woodworking by making games for St. Mary Church picnic, along with cars and trucks for the needy. I also spent the last 25 years helping make desserts for New Community Shelter. In 2016, I was a proud recipient of Roses for the Living award from the De Pere Rotary Club.
I will be sadly missed by my wife of 55 years Rita; two sons Keith (friend Kim) of Belmont, Kevin (Brenda) of De Pere; Granddaughter Karissa; Step grandchildren, Steven and Serena. I am further survived by brothers, Cliff (MaryAnn), Jim (friend Adris) (Judy deceased), sister, Pat (Rick). Rita’s sisters, Dolores, Alice, Nancy (Rod). Special Godchildren, Steve, Sue, Jodi, Eric, Craig; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In addition to my parents, I was preceded in death by my in-laws, Peter and Mary (Peeters) VanDenHeuvel, Dick (Joyce), Bernard, Donald, and nephews Todd and Tim.
