William "Bill" Goolsbey

March 21, 1945 — March 15, 2023

On Wednesday March 15, 2023, Bill passed away peacefully in his sleep at a care facility. He was born March 21, 1945 to Ellen (Christison) and Ronald Goolsbey in Amery, Wisconsin. Bill graduated from Wrightstown High School in 1962 and then attended Northeast Wisconsin Technical Institute where he learned his life-long craft in accounting. In 1967 he married Judy Arnoldi; they divorced in 2010.

Bill spent nearly his entire career at Uphill & Uphill CPA Firm where he formed numerous professional and personal relationships that endured for decades. He was proud of the work he did over the years.

Underneath his seemingly gruff exterior he was a man who was deeply caring and always willing to take the time to mentor and help those around him. He was involved in the Kiwanis Club of Greater Green Bay, worked with Habitat for Humanity, volunteered at Resurrection and St. Matthew parishes and helped set up West Africa Aid, Inc. (hospital services). He also enjoyed the time he spent teaching business classes and was always looking for ways to help those around him be successful.

Bill’s passions in life included golf and travel. A highlight for him was traveling to Scotland where he played the old course at St. Andrew’s and visited some of the family roots near Edinburgh. He also enjoyed seeing the mountains of western US and Canada, touring China and going on cruises in the Mediterranean. After retirement Bill appreciated opportunities to escape Wisconsin winters for trips to see friends in Florida.

Bill was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Michele, son Mark (Nicole), grandsons Eain and Ryan and brother John (Patricia).

Family and friends may gather Friday, March 24, 2023, from 3:30 PM until 6:30 PM at Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care, 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere, WI.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established for Habit for Humanity and West Africa Aid, Inc.
