Wilbur David “Bill” Springstube, Green Bay, 93, passed away October 14, 2019. On April 30, 1926, he was born in Manitowoc County to the late August and Linda (Luckow) Springstube-Hatton. At the age of 16, Bill came to live with Alfred and Elsie Klipstine and their family, in the Green Bay area. From 1944 to 1946 Wilbur served his country in the US Army. On July 3, 1954, he married Dolores Kluender at Zion Lutheran Church in Morrison. Bill was a core maker-machine operator at Ft. Howard Paper Corp (now Georgia-Pacific) for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, De Pere, where he served as church secretary/trustee.
Bill enjoyed squirrel and deer hunting, playing cards, and traveling to Alaska, Nova Scotia, all the federal and state parks, while camping in many of them.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Becky (Dale) Derouso, New London; grandchildren, Shay (Kathy) Derouso, Dustin (Diana) Derouso, Crystal (Dave) Byrum, Logan Derouso; and great-grandchildren, Autumn, Brennen, Liliena, Fiona, Sofia and a soon-to-be born great-grandchild; brothers, Walter Springstube, Mishicot; Eugene Springstube, Manitowoc; sisters-in-law, Florence Hafeman, Green Bay; Margaret Wendt, Green Bay; Marilyn Springstube, Florida; and is further survived by his extended family, Alvin Miller, Elaine Muesbeck, Ralph (Janet) Klipstine, Carol (Don) Hutjens, Lois (Dave) McAllister, William (Peggy) Klipstine; as well as relatives and friends.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his son, Tim in 2014; brothers, Ken Springstube, August Springstube; sister, Phyllis Springstube; sisters-in-law, Mabel Kluender, Sue Springstube, Jeanette Springstube; brother-in-law, Ray Wendt; extended family members Alfred and Elsie Klipstine, Ruth Miller, Don Muesbeck; godchild, Tammy Batten.
Family and friends may visit at Hope Lutheran Church, 700 S. Superior St., De Pere, from 9:00am to 10:45am on Monday, October 21. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Matthew Baye officiating. Entombment in Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home of De Pere is assisting the family.
A memorial fund will be established for Bill.
Bill’s family would like to thank Pastor Baye, the staffs of Angels Touch, the VA Home Program and all special area doctors for their kind care. Also, to the Klipstine family for considering Bill part of their family.
