Warren H. Schlies

Warren Henry Alvin Schlies, 79, De Pere, passed away Sunday, May 15th at his home. He was born April 7, 1932 in Kewaunee to Frank and Josephine (Winnekens) Schlies (dec’d) of Stangleville, and had seven brothers. Warren served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was retired from Georgia Pacific. He most enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family, and friends in the neighborhood and at St. Mary’s Catholic Community. His dry wit and intelligence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Warren was married for 49 years to his beloved Shirley (Palmer) Schlies until she passed away in 2007. He is survived by: two daughters, Debra and partner, Kristen White, and Rebecca Hague and husband, Howard; daughter-in-law, Bette Schlies; adopted daughter and friend, Jill and Rich Harkoff; two grandsons, Andrew Schlies and his wife, Trista, and Gary Schlies; one granddaughter, Willa Kate Schlies White; and two brothers, Harris Schlies, Manitowoc, and Ray Schleis, Green Bay; sisters- and brothers-in-law Agnes Schleis, Alice Schlies, Lorraine Schlies, Lucy Schleis, Leah and Gale King, Renee Fawcett, Pat and Ed McVey, Helen Owen, Dick Martin, and Mary Palmer. Warren is survived by many nieces and nephews, and cousins and aunts of the Winnekens and Schlies families. Warren was preceded in death by: son, Richard; brothers Al Schleis, Bob Schlies, Francis Schleis, Don Schlies, and Roman Schlies; sisters- and brothers-in-law Fauniece Martin, Betty and Frank Davis, Dwight and Coleen Palmer, John Owen, Gene Fawcett, Leland Palmer, Mrs. Roman (Beverly) Schlies, Mrs. Harris (Pauline) Schlies, and Mrs. Raymond (Mary) Schleis. Friends may call Wednesday, May 18, 2011, (TODAY), from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle, Town of Ledgeview, off Sportsman Drive. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at church, with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
