Vivian Hansen

Vivian E. Hansen, 91, Denmark, passed away January 12, 2011 at Harmony of Denmark. Vivian was born in Denmark, August 30, 1919, daughter of the late Harry and Clara Hansen. Vivian graduated from Denmark High School and Manitowoc County Norman Teachers College. Vivian taught elementary school for several years in rural schools before taking time off to raise her 5 children. Vivian went back to teaching full time, completing her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from U.W. Oshkosh, finishing her teaching career at Denmark Elementary School. Vivian loved to read, play cards, do embroidery work and she loved flower and vegetable gardening. Vivian’s children, however, were the dearest things in her life. Vivian never stopped teaching her children to be supportive of each other. Survivors include one son, Ross (Kristin Urban) Dahlke, Maribel; daughters, Hazel Dahlke, Green Bay; Gail (Ken) Wanek, Webster, New York and Nona (Dan) Huempfner, Green Bay; step-daughter-in-law, Gail Hansen and her children, Jim Hansen and Angie Long. She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews. Vivian is preceded in death by two husbands, Edgar Dahlke (1975) and Harley Hansen (2003); one daughter, Judith Powell; step-son, Roger Hansen; also two sisters, Hazel and Evelyn; two brothers Casper and George. Family and friends may call at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark on Thursday, January 20, 2011 from 1PM to 3PM. A memorial service will be held at 3PM on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Fewell officiating. Online condolences may be expressed to Vivian’s family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
