Victoria Von Bergen

Victoria W. Von Bergen, age 90, De Pere, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice. She was born March 5, 1921 in the Netherlands. Victoria was the daughter of the late Arnold and Adriana (Buets/Buuts) Vanden Berg. She graduated from East De Pere High School, class of 1938 and was employed as an office manager for Herlache Industrial Supply Co. until retiring in 1986. Victoria was a member of St. Mary Catholic Community of De Pere where she was a member of the Funders and funeral dinner ladies group. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and David Meier of Reedsville, granddaughter, Lynn (Matt) Kehl, Fond Du Lac; grandson, William Meier, Marshfield; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Donald J.) Vanden Berg, Green Bay and Patricia (Arnold H.) Vandenberg, Atlantic City, New Jersey. She is also survived by four special nieces: Kathryn (Robert) Gentz, Janesville; Terri (John) Juley, Green Bay; Maribeth (Roger) DeStarkey, Green Bay; goddaughter, Karen (Eric) Selissen, Ashwaubenon; and other nieces and nephews and their families of Wisconsin, New Jersey, Indiana and Michigan. Victoria was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Arnold H. Vandenberg and Donald J. Vanden Berg; two sisters: Johanna and Josephine Vanden Berg; a sister and brother-in-law, Deanne (Raymond) Schmuhl; and her former husband, Richard Von Bergen. Friends may call Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle, Town of Ledgeview, off Sportsman Drive. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church, with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. Our family would like to give an especially warm thank you to the caregivers and all the personnel of Unity Hospice for their cheerful, tender loving care, friendship, compassion and understanding of Victoria and her needs during a nearly three year stay in the Meng Residence, her last home on earth. Thank you to all of Victoria’s visitors as she truly appreciated your companionship.
