Vernette Melitta (Prange) Nysse

Vernette Melitta Prange Nysse, age 91, of Denmark, the daughter of Otto and Erma (Kaufmann) Prange was born November 29, 1924, in the town of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, died peacefully after a brief illness on September 15, 2016. As a child she attended Monroe Grade School where she had to learn English quickly since her parents only spoke German. Vernette graduated as valedictorian of her class at Sheboygan Falls High School. She married the love of her life Leslie Nysse of Aniwa, Wisconsin, during an ice storm on April 15, 1944. Together they bought a dairy farm on the Manitowoc/Kewaunee County line. After Leslie died in 1971, she built a house on Harpt Lake Road and continued to live there happily until three years ago when she moved to an assisted living facility in Denmark. Vernette belonged to the Zander Homemaker Club and St. Johns of Gibson Ladies Bible Class. She enjoyed taking week long trips. Vernette loved to play bingo, dominos and cards with relatives and friends. She enjoyed her flower gardens and feeding the birds. She liked driving tractor to assist with fieldwork. Vernette also worked as a cook and server at La Fiesta dining hall for ten years. Vernette was the best Grandma, great-grandma and great-great-grandma one could have. She never missed a chance to attend recitals, musicals, baptisms, confirmations, weddings and the like. Vernette is survived by her daughter Carole (Norbert) Van De Hei and their children: Gary (Debbie) and their children: Amanda (fiancé Tyler Blaha), Andrea (fiancé Russell Lemke) and Abigail, stepdaughters Megan (Brian) Bruegge and their children: Lily, Claire and Ben; Myka (Caleb) Hart; daughter Lynnette (special friend Kevin Romdemne); daughter Lori (John) Calaway and their children: Elizabeth, Nicole (Dean) Laabs and son Wyatt, and Sarah; son Greg (Cheryl) and stepson Alex Hoholek (significant other Chelsea) and daughter Jennifer (special friend Ray) and their son Anthony; son-in-law Bob Komorowski and children Hunter and Cordell; and son Glen (Jessica) Van De Hei and their children Garrett, Cody and Hailey. She is further survived by her son Clifford (Charlotte) and their children: Eric, Kevin (Patricia) and their stepson Jaxon Hafenbreadl and daughter Kate; and daughter Heather (Phil) Farina and their children Jocelyn and Olivia; and son Brian (Sheila) and their children Ashley and Jason; and son Philip (Sarah). Vernette was preceded in death by her brother Harley Prange; granddaughter Lana Komorowski and granddaughter-in-law Amy Nysse. Family and friends may visit at St. John Lutheran Church, 16904 Hwy Q, Gibson (Mishicot), on Monday, September 19, from 9am until 10:45am. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday with Pastor James Heffner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home of Denmark is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The Nysse family would like to thank the staff at Scandinavian Assisted Living and SouthernCare Hospice Service for the fine care and loving concern shown to Vernette.
