Verna J. Kobes, 89, of Denmark passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday February 2, 2022.
She was born September 10, 1932, to the late Frank and Rose (Ostrenga) Jurczykowski, she married the love of her life, George Kobes on July 28, 1951. They shared just shy of 70 wonderful years of marriage. Verna worked side by side with her husband on their farm, a terrific homemaker and gardener. She plucked many feathers both of chicken and duck. She was famous for her Czernina, and excellent Polish baking skills. She was well loved by all her children and grandchildren. She loved getting together for a game of sheepshead, 500 Rummy, and a beer or two! Verna was also a very dedicated Packer fan.
Verna is survived by her children Dave (Linda) Kobes, Donna (Bill) Bierke, Debra Paul, and Diane (Keith) DuChateau; her grandchildren Jennifer (Brent) Veeser, Katie (James) Zellner, Kevin Kobes, Sy (Barb) Jahnke, Jason (Melissa) Jahnke, Rebecca Damp, Frank Paul, Anna (Cory) Schneider, George (Amanda) Paul, Adam and Tyler King. She also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren: her siblings Norm (Shirley) Ostrenga, Eleanor Rozmarynoski, Mary Wiza, Eugene (Mary) Jurczykowski, Joyce (Roger) Andrastek, her in-laws Judy Jurczykowski, Joe Kobes, and Dorothy Kobes as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband George, her daughter and son-in-law Dawn (Joe) King; granddaughter, Kelli King; brother Tommy; in laws Eddie, Tom, Frank, John, Ann, Mary, Ed, Jimmy, Toni, Adeline, Herb, Delores, and Alice.
Visitation will take place Monday February 7, 2022, from 9am – 10:45am at St. Thomas the Apostle (Sugarbush) 5930 Humboldt Road, Luxemburg, WI 54217. Mass will be celebrated at 11am with Pastor Reverend Carlo Villaluz (Fr. Lukee) officiating.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers at Bellin Hospital and Woodside Rehabilitation and Assisted Living.
