Thomas Kane

December 31, 1969 — April 25, 2017

Thomas J. Kane, 73, the son of the late Thomas H. Kane and Bernadine C. (O’Hearn) Kane, entered into eternal life on April 25. He was born on July 15, 1943. Thomas grew up on the family farm in Denmark and lived there until his passing. Thomas’s greatest joys were cultivating the land, nurturing his animals, having lively discussions with neighbors, going for a Sunday drive, and sharing ice cream treats with his many nieces and nephews. Tom lived a truly humble life and practiced faith and love of family daily. Thomas (Tom) was a honor graduate of Denmark High School and also graduated from Manitowoc Teacher’s College. He taught grade school for a few years before the farm called him back. Although his teaching career ended too soon, he was a teacher at heart. Whether it was teaching his nephews carpentry or welding, or engineering a new piece of equipment with pipes he found at the dump, he was always willing to use everyday opportunities for others to learn. To Tom, ones man’s junk was always another man’s treasure. Thomas is survived by his loving siblings Robert (LaVerne) Kane (Denmark), Mary (Jack) Roberts (Florida), Dorothy (Ronald) VanPatten (Menomonee Falls), Bernadine (William) Van De Yacht (De Pere). And brother in-law, James Halbrook (Green Bay). He is further survived by his special dog, Shiloh, twenty four nieces and nephews, numerous grand-nieces and nephews, and many other dear friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas and Bernadine, his dear sisters, Doris Halbrook and Lucille Kane, nephew, Tyler Kane and John L. Fricker and close friends, Wallis VanderKinter and Rueben Schley. He was further greeted into eternal life by his favorite four legged friends, Reggie, Murph, and Jake. Family and friends may visit at St. James Catholic Church, 18228 County Road R, Cooperstown, on Friday, May 5, from 11:00am until 1:45pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home of Denmark is assisting the family. A special thank you goes to his devoted brother, Robert, for his daily 9 a.m. visits to Tom and his second family, Kelly, Tammy, Ross, Brittney (Nick Schmidt) and Cody (Courtney Cornette), Owen and Emmett (Schmidt) and Cashton Kane, who brightened his every day. The glisten in Tom’s eyes and the smile on his face after telling a good story will always be remembered.
