Theresa Otis

Theresa (Peters) Otis, 89, De Pere, beloved wife of the late John (Jack) Otis passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Renaissance Assisted Living.

Theresa was born August 9, 1929 in De Pere, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Jenssen) Peters. Theresa married her late husband Jack on July 11,1951. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2000.

Theresa was a loving wife, best friend to Jack and a wonderful mother and grandmother. During her life she enjoyed working in food service for 27 years at St. Mary’s (Notre Dame) Elementary School, being a homemaker, cooking, baking, camping and playing cards with family and friends. Her other hobbies included golfing, bowling, knitting and vacationing, especially to Europe, Alaska, and many trips to Las Vegas.

Family was extremely important to Theresa. She loved talking about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, of whom she was most proud.

Theresa is survived by her son, Keith Otis; daughter, Kathy (Dick) Sommers; grandchildren, Melissa (Dustin) Teske and Michael Sommers (Louis Rivoire). She also leaves her great-grandsons, Robin and Teddy Teske. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and good friends too numerous to name, especially her friends at Nicolet Highlands and Father Jack Harper for his care and compassion.

Theresa was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray (Mary) Peters; Joe (Rita) Peters; and sisters Dorothy (Dick) VanSistine; Jane (Jack) Willi; and sister-in-law, Joyce (George) Simon.

Family and friends may gather on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Swan Club at Legends (875 Heritage Rd, De Pere) from 9:30am till 11:00am. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am with Fr. Jack Harper officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established to benefit St. John Evangelist Homeless Shelter and Paul’s Pantry.

The Family wishes to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, especially Laura, Chris and Chaplain Steve, and the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living.
