Terry Alan Nelson

June 7, 1951 — November 17, 2013

Terry Alan Nelson, 62, passed away Sunday, November 17th in Green Bay after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was surrounded by his loving family who supported him unconditionally during his long journey. Terry was born in Iron Mountain, MI on June 7, 1951 to the late Roy Arvid and Betty Ann Nelson. He was a graduate of Iron Mountain High School and Ferris State College in Michigan. After graduating he and his wife Sue relocated to Sheboygan, WI where he joined the H.C. Prange Company. He worked for Prange's and Prange Way until the organization closed. Terry was also employed at Cellcom, Oshkosh By Gosh and N.E.W. Community Services. Terry was forced to retire early due to his illness. He was a very special man. He attended every Packer game from age 6-60, loved to golf, and adored his eight grandchildren. He prided himself on keeping his yard like a putting green and enjoyed rides to Door County in his little red car. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Susan (Johnson) Nelson; two sons and daughter-in-laws: Matthew and Ann Nelson of Green Bay and Erik and Kristin Nelson of Waconia, MN; and one daughter and son-in-law Lindsey and Andy Otradovec of Green Bay. He is further survived by his eight grandchildren; Olivia, Samuel, Gabriel, Connor, Alaina, Alex, Brody, and Hudson. Terry has one brother, Stuart (Rebecca) Nelson who resides in Eden Prairie, MN; one brother-in-law: David (Christie) Johnson of Traverse City, MI; father and mother-in-law: Oscar and Madaline Johnson of Iron Mountain, MI; and is also further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. He was greeted in heaven by his parents, Roy Betty, special grandmothers, and favorite Uncle Audie, all who played an important role in his life. The family wants to thank Dudley Birder, Kent Paulsen, and Terry's singing family at St. Norbert College. The Dudley Birder Chorale Group and Celebration Church was his reason for much happiness in his last years. Also the family would like to thank Terry's many friends, especially Steve and Mike for weekly golfing and Allouez Band concerts, Korry and Jerome for their continued love and support, Pat for Terry's special table at Mackinaws, and Tom Davey for being T's lifelong friends. Their support even from a long distance never wavered. Family and friends may gather to celebrate Terry’s life at the Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave in DePere on Thursday from 10am until the time of service at noon. Terry's family wants to especially thank Dr. David Kaufman. He was a caring physician to Terry and to Sue for many years. We would also like to thank Dr. Amy James, Sarah, Molly, Tim Rupiper, and all the special people at Unity who brought peace to Terry throughout the past year and in the end. Donations can be made to the St. Norbert Dudley Birder Chorale or WI Alzheimer's Association to further research this dreaded disease. Condolences to the family can be made at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
