Stephen E. Spaulding

November 15, 1957 — August 4, 2020

Stephen Edward Spaulding, passed away the morning of Tuesday, August 4th of 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife; Kelly Spaulding (Waterstradt); two sons Christopher and Timothy Spaulding; brother Keith Spaulding and his wife Leigh Ann Spaulding. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lori Spaulding.

Steve was born in Tallahassee Florida on November 15, 1957 to Paul Kent Spaulding and Eleonore Ida Spaulding (Waibel). He graduated from the University of Whitewater with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications in 1985. He owned and ran a business for 24 years, specializing in engraving sales and services. From 2017-2019 he was Midwest regional sales manager for Novanta specializing in laser motion controls.

While at UW-Whitewater, Steve met the love of his life, Kelly Spaulding. They married on December 27th, 1986 and had 33 wonderful years of life together. On October 30, 1992 and April 6, 1999 respectively, they welcomed and adopted two sons, with whom they shared their life and family.

Steve was known for many things, with music up at the top. Not only did he listen and collect hundreds of vinyl and CDs, but he studied the history and stories behind the music. He was an avid reader, gaining knowledge in a wide variety of subjects, making him the trivia master on most occasions. He was a problem solver, tackling many projects around the house and taking them a step further to be better than the original design. His creative side came out when working on engraving projects for clients, designing beautiful works on marble, wood, or other surfaces, to be loved by others forever. He always went over and above with his customer service, teaching many of his clients not only how the machines he sold them worked to make a living, but how to fix them in case he wasn’t around to help out. He was very involved with his son’s lives, attending all of the soccer games and cross country ski trips to root them on with his booming voice. Steve had a large soft spot for all of the animals in his life, never shying away from a cuddle with the dogs on the couch, despite Kelly’s lack of enthusiasm for the dogs being up on the furniture. He tended his garden and plants daily, and always snuck home a new plant he saw in the store that just seemed a little lonely. He is very remembered for his cooking, finding new recipes to try, techniques of creating fantastic flavor, and perfecting many dishes that were the talk of the town at any table with family and friends. He valued the friendships in his life with many high school, college, and professional friends, always staying in touch and reaching out to keep the strong connection, many times over a good beer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
