Sally A. (Gavin) Huempfner

Sally A. Huempfner, 80, De Pere resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior in the loving presence of her family Monday, Dec. 19, 2011. She was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Green Bay, the daughter of Thomas and Gertrude (Despins) Gavin. Sally married Gerald H. Huempfner May 7, 1955 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. Sally was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere. She served in the Altar Rosary Society, sang in the choir, and also served as a Eucharistic Minister. She also was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for St. Vincent. Sally enjoyed camping with her sister, Lois, and her family; fishing, swimming, and times at the cottage in Marinette Co. She also loved to play bridge, and baking cookies with her grandchildren. Sally is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gerald; children: Trudy (Joe) Ferrier and their children, Kevin and Amanda; Jean (Douglas) Meidl and their children, Scott, Erin and Annie; Mary Beth (Peter) Schiebel and their children, Jennifer, Katherine and Anthony; Paul (Teri) Huempfner and their children, Stephanie and Gavin; Joe (Penny) Huempfner and their son, Jordan; Mark Huempfner and his special friend, Maia; and Brian (Dana) Huempfner; great-grandchildren: Alex and Henry; brothers: Phillip and Donald Gavin; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Clifton Gavin and Gertrude Ann Gavin; a brother, Thomas Gavin; two sisters, Lois (Gavin) Gellin and Jean Gavin; and many in-laws. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM, with the parish prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Thursday, Dec. 22nd, from 9 to 10:30 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Thursday at 10:30 AM with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Unity Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneral home.com. A special Thank You to Dr. Hujet and the 5th floor nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, and also Unity Hospice for all of their great care.
