Ruth Nora (Peterson) Nohr

Ruth (Peterson) Nohr, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Born to Peter C. and Karen (Hansen) Peterson on May 10, 1919. The youngest of eleven children. She attended Langes Corner Grade School and graduated from Denmark High School in 1937. Ruth graduated from Bellin School of Nursing in 1942. She married Marvin Nohr on June 10, 1943 at Trinity Lutheran Church. They farmed in the township of Glenmore. Ruth returned to the Nursing Profession in 1973 where she was employed at Santa Maria Nursing home for 24 years. She then retired to the village of Denmark in 1999. Ruth was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, liked to read, did needlework, crossword puzzles and Bible study. Ruth is survived by one daughter, Karen and Michael Read and two sons, Karl and Debby Nohr, Kim and Gail Nohr; grandchildren, Peter and Angela Read, Christopher Read, Jesse, Jennifer, Jacky Nohr. Cody Blake, Colin and Katlyn Nohr; and four great-grandsons Connor, Elliot, Andrew and Darious; godchildren, Joan Arrington, Clair Rasmussen, Mary Larson, Dennis Peterson, Bernard Boushka and Bob Boushka; as well as many much loved and appreciated nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, seven brothers and three sisters. Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home-Denmark Chapel, 536 Cty Rd R, Denmark, on Tuesday, November 21, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm. Visitation will continue after 9:00am on Wednesday, November 22, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 435 Wisconsin Ave, Denmark. The funeral service for Ruth will be celebrated at 10:00am with Pastor Andy Zoerb officiating. Interment will be held in Lark Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. We extend our thanks and appreciation to the staff at Bornemanns Nursing Home. She was blessed to have some special caregivers, some of which are Katie, LaVette, Tamara, Ann and Ivory. Also a special thanks to Unity Hospice. We can say as a family that Ruth was the heart and soul of not only the people in the immediate family, but also the people that God brought to her to care for, to guide, and give them love and hope. She wanted us to tell you, mourn not that I have passed on; rather smile that I have lived.
