Ruth M (De Groot) Hendricks

Ruth M. (De Groot) Hendricks, 83, De Pere, passed away peacefully at her home, Friday, July 16, 2010 surrounded by her family. She was born October 3, 1926 to the late Joseph and Minnie (Williamsen) De Groot and lived her entire life in De Pere. Ruth attended St. Mary’s Grade School and De Pere High School, graduating with the class of 1944. She married Mark L. Hendricks on July 1, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church, De Pere and enjoyed 60 years of marriage together. Ruth was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Community, where she worked in the kitchen for many funeral luncheons. She also volunteered at at De Pere Christian Outreach and St. Vincent De Paul. Survivors include her loving husband, Mark; 4 children: Jeff (Cathy) Hendricks, Oregon, IL; Mary Beth (Robert) Hollis, Schofield, WI; Tom (Terry) Hendricks, De Pere; and Todd (Cathy) Hendricks, De Pere; grandchildren Jessica (Pat) Jones, Aaron and Mark Hendricks, Alex and Sam Hollis, and Logan Hendricks; sister, Marilyn (Dave) Denissen; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Mark J. Hendricks; step-mother, Evelyn Hutton De Groot; brother-in-law, Dave Denissen; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herbert and Elizabeth Hendricks. Family and friends may call Monday, July 19 from 5:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a prayer service at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John the XXIII Circle, off Sportsman Drive, Town of Ledgeview, from 10:00a.m. until the hour of mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at the church at 11:00a.m. with the Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Entombment will be in Allouez Mausoleum.
