Ruth I. Christensen, age 96, of Denmark, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017 at Scandinavian Court in Denmark. The daughter of the late Otto and Mathilda (Fonferek) Thompson was born October 2, 1920 in the Town of De Pere. She married Milton R. Christensen on October 10, 1953 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Green Bay. Ruth worked for the Denmark School System for 15 years before retiring. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Denmark, where she was a former choir member, Sunday School Teacher, participated in Bible study and belonged to the Women of the Church. Ruth was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Survivors include her children: Gail Schleis, Bob (Rita) Christensen, Rod (Tina) Christensen; grandchildren: Dawn (Andrew) Dorf, Stephen (special friend Bruna) Schleis, Rachel (Justin) Ledvina, Jennifer (Chris) Baribeau, Paula (James) Lewis, Michael (special friend Keri) Christensen, Anthony Druckrey, Katie Christensen, Stephanie Christensen and Olivia Biertzer; great-grandchildren: Garrett and Madelynn Dorf, JoLee and Fletcher Ledvina, Emma Baribeau, Mhylei and Tinisa Druckrey, Westyn Christensen; a sister Elsie (Ray) Hanson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, siblings: Oscar, Marvin, Esther, Robert, Myrtle, Bernard and Norman. Family and friends may visit at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Denmark on Saturday, January 28, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Funeral service at 11:00am Saturday with the Rev. Andrew Zoerb officiating.
