Russell L. Nuss, 85, Green Bay, passed away January 11, 2013 after a long illness. Russell was born on December 2, 1927 in De Pere to Erna (Boese) Nuss and Lorine (Jake) Nuss. Russell was a WWII veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1945-1947, playing trumpet in the Army Band. He received numerous medals, awards and accolades for his musical ability. Russell married Joyce (Anderson) Nuss on November 17, 1947. He was employed at Wisconsin Optical Service as General Manager from 1960-2002. Russell was a 33 degree Mason, and was Master of the De Pere Masonic Lodge during the 1970’s. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and listening to big band music. The special joys of his life were his three grandsons, and he followed everything they were involved in through their high school years and beyond. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joyce; daughter Nancy (Mel) Wigman, Green Bay; son Steven and his partner Gordon Jee, NYC; grandsons: Anthony (Leslie) Cao, Madison, Aaron Cao, NYC, Andrew (Sophie) Cao, NYC, two great grand-daughters, Eloise Cao and Lua Cao; one cousin, Barbara Woche, De Pere, and numerous in-laws.
