Russell L. Hermsen

January 10, 1959 — May 18, 2024

Russell L. Hermsen, age 65 of De Pere, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, following an accident at home. He was born on January 10, 1959, in Green Bay to the late Eugene and Bernice (Lemmen) Hermsen. After graduating from high school, Russ joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country from 1979 to 1982. On May 28, 1988, he married Lynn Schleis at Heritage Hill in Green Bay. Russ enjoyed traveling (road trips), fishing and cooking. He especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter and was looking forward to retirement and being able to do that more often. Russ will be missed by those who knew and loved him.


Survivors include his wife of almost 36 years, Lynn, son Zachary Hermsen and daughter, Lucy (significant other, Jeffrey Kossik) Hermsen and granddaughter, Dylan Hermsen. He is further survived by his six sisters; Judy (Tom) Fogarty, Carol (Wayne) Parma, Nancy (Dave) Krajewski, Terrie (Gerry) La Luzerne, Ali (Kevin) Kirchman and Sandy (Larry) Kiehnau as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents.


Family and friends may visit on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 10:00am until 1:00pm at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere. There will be no formal services, just a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Russ’s life. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
