Royal Cenefelt, 92 of Denmark, WI passed away Saturday January 10, 2015 at Bellin Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born July 16, 1922 to Alma Kopera and Charles Cenefelt in Cooperstown, WI. Royal graduated from Milwaukee School of Enginering and then served in the Army-Air Corps during WWII. He then worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier until he retired in 1987. He worked for the civil defense, selective service board, and worked for the Denmark school district. He also volunteered in the starting years with the Denmark Viking Rescue Squad. Royal was Financial Secretary for the Knights of Columbus #4735 from 1971-2013. He was an active member of the American Legion, and also a member in the Western Fraternal Life Association. Royal was a wonderful husband and father as well as a beloved grandpa and great grandpa. He meticulously tended to his garden, enjoyed Polka Music, dancing, family gatherings, traveling the world with his family and of course the Packers for who he worked security for years which included the Ice Bowl. Royal also achieved the Citizen of the Year Award in 1987. Royal married Mary L. Gretz on January 29, 1949. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years, Mary, two daughters Diane (Ross) Degrand, Manitowoc, and Janet Matsuda and her special friend Joe Briggs who live in Green Bay; grand-children Jeff (Michelle) Wessley and Nicole (David) Bull, great-grandchildren Lauryn and Katelyn (Wessley) and Brayden (Bull); two step-grandchildren Brandon and Brittany and a brother Merlin Cenefelt. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl and Earl, sister Margie, and grand-daughter Jaime, along with many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may visit at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 Cty R, Denmark, on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 (TODAY) from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Denmark American Legion service will be held at 6:15 p.m., followed by a parish prayer service and a Knights of Columbus service. Visitation will continue on Wednesday at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the procession leaves for All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church, with Fr. Kevin Ori officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
