Roy G. Patzke, 93, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012. He was born June 29, 1919 in Green Bay to the late Rudolph and Josephine (Mommaerts) Patzke. Roy graduated from Green Bay West High School. Roy proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He married Gloria Kjell on February 14, 1946. They celebrated 54 years together before Gloria passed away September 2000. Roy retired from Northwest Engineering Corp. as a machinist. After retirement, Roy volunteered much of his time to the DePere Mens Club, Golden K, Meals on Wheels, and The March of Dimes. Roy was an avid Packer fan his entire life. As a kid he carried Arnie Herber’s helmet into the game. Story has it, security would not let Roy go into the stadium with the helmet, and Arnie said “The kid doesn’t go in, neither do I.” Roy’s hobby was golf, more golf, and building beer and pop can airplanes. He is survived by his son and daughter, Michael Patzke, Yukon OK; Patty (Gary) Gerondale, New Franken and their families; Kim (Brad) Stoklasa and their sons Bryce and Brady; Nicole (Brandon) Rutledge and their sons Logan and Weston,; Chad (Cayla) Patzke,and their daughter Haylie; Tye Gerondale; Kelley Patzke; Kip (Nan) Gerondale and their daughter Jacinda. He is further survived by 3 brothers and 3 sisters and their spouses, Terrance (Rosemary) Patzke; Leona DeCleene; Laverne DeCleene; Robert (Ceil) Patzke; Carol Robillard; Clyde (Millie) Patkze; hIs sister-in-laws, Philis Kjell and Harriet (Nate) Anderson; brother in-law, Bob Baker; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Gloria; second wife Velma; sister Gen; brother Myron; brother-laws Gene Robillard; Harold DeCleene; Vic DeCleene Joe VanGroll; Kenneth Kjell; Henry Harpel; and sister-laws Margaret Patzke; Helen VanGroll; Violet Harpel; and Irene Baker. Visitation of family and friends to celebrate Roy’s life will be held at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, 209 S. Adams St., Green Bay, on Friday, August 17, 2012 from 2 PM to 3PM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the church on Friday at 3 PM with Father Andy Cribben , O. Praem, officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, is assisting the family. The family would like to thank the staff at the Odd Fellow Home for the wonderful care they gave Roy. We enjoyed hearing all the stories you shared with us during his last hours. The family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness.
